Gambia: President threatens journalists on national television

President of Gambia, Yahya Jammeh threatened journalists during a televised speech Wednesday. “Any journalist who thinks he or she can write what he or she wants and go free is making a serious mistake,” he said. Journalists are the object of frequent arrests in the country. In 2004, Deyda Hydara, a correspondent for AFP, was assassinated.
