According to four NGOs, a Chad-Cameroon project initiated by the World Bank (WB) connecting the oil fields of Doba in southwest Chad to the Cameroon maritime terminal of Kribi (southwest) does not contribute to the fight against poverty. In a statement released July 24, they argue that local populations have been sacrificed, following their support of “the social and environmental impacts of the project on their community,” indicated Romandie news. June this year, the International Advisory Group (ICG) published a pessimistic report on the issue.
