Defence ministers of Uganda, Somalia and Burundi have been holding tripartite talks since Thursday in Kampala, Uganda, over the current situation of the African Union (AU) peacekeeping force in Somalia, reports TV5. The meeting comes a week after the double suicide attack carried out by Islamist insurgents Somali Shebab killed several peacekeepers at the AMISOM headquarters. Burundi and Uganda, the only countries to contribute to AMISOM, have called for a strengthening of the peacekeeping forces’ mandate.
