Fighting between two Islamist factions, Hizbul and Shabaab al-Islam, erupted in the port of Kismayo in southern Somalia on Thursday, leaving at least 9 dead, according to L’Express. The two militia originally allied in their fight against the government of Somali President Cheick Ahmed Sharif, have been fighting for the control of the port of Kismayo. The tension has increased in recent days with the entry of heavily armed Hizbul Islam militia into the city. Hundreds of families have been caught up in the violence.
