According to the Independent Online, labor unions called on residents to observe a “day of prayer” and stay at home today, Monday. Markets, banks, office, schools and service stations were closed in protest of the September 28th massacre, which killed over 150 people and injured more than 1200. Captain Moussa Dadis Camara puts the death toll around 56. In a statement, the main union federation urged all Guineans to “kneel piously before the moral remains of the martyrs for democracy in Guinea.”
