The Minister of Finance, Tendai Biti, has threatened to resign if he was forced to return the local currency, writes AngolaPress.

The Zimbabwe dollar was abandoned by the sothern African nation last January, due to the high inflation rate in the country.

“If someone is to ask me to bring back the Zimbabwe dollar, then there will be a vacancy on the sixth floor of the government complex and I will go back to my law firm”, he was quoted saying in an interview, reports Mail&GuardianOnline.

He stated that the return of the local currency should only take place starting in November 2010.

President Mugabe previously hinted that he would ask Biti to bring back the Zimbabwe dollar because the people had no access to foreign currency.
