According to the BBC, at least 70 people were killed last Friday when a fuel tanker exploded, setting fire to five packed busses in the southern state of Anambra. Officials say the tanker overturned after it had hit a pothole, sparking a massive blaze. The death toll could rise, as the charred remains of the victims were recovered from the minibuses. Ben Eknna , who works for the Federal Road Safety Commission, was quoted as saying by AFP, that similar accidents could take place again, if nothing was done to improve the poorly-maintained roads in Nigeria.
