Guinea: China plans to invest millions in Guinea

China is planning to invest as much as €7 million on Guinean infrastructure. According to Bloomberg, Mines Minister Mahmoud Thiam stated in a telephone interview: “Guinea needs these kinds of projects to begin its economic takeoff.” Chinese partners have already deposited about €130 million in the Guinean central bank to start building two power plants. Guinea and China have also created a joint venture to explore for oil off the country’s coast.
