Rwanda: Economic growth of 9% in first half of 2009

Despite the global financial crisis, Rwanda’s economy grew by 9% during the first half of 2009, reports AllAfrica. James Musoni, Minister of Finance and Economic, said the economy grew by 10% in the first quarter of 2009 mainly due to the expansion of the industrial base and a good crop yield. In the second quarter, the economy grew by 8% mainly due to better agricultural output. Overall, the first half GDP growth stands at 9%.
