According to RFI, South Africa’s government has decided to encourage white farmers to develop their activities in other countries on the continent.
However, Pretoria is not kicking them out of South Africa like their neighbor, Zimbabwe, previously did.
The ongoing land reform, which favors black farmers, will slow down the expansion of white farmers in the country.
Without awaiting the green light from the government, Pretoria has already contacted the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Uganda and Angola to facilitate the transfer of South African white farmers abroad.
Land reform was one of the main promises made by African National Congress (ANC) when it came to power in 1994.
