Nigeria’s main rebel group, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger delta, has ended its 90 days ceasefire and threatened to resume attack in the oil-producing southern region states AFP.
The movement said in an email statement that it would “resume hostilities” against the Nigerian oil industry, the Nigerian armed forces and its collaborators.”
Attacks on oil infrastructure have cut Nigeria’s oil exports by more than 20 percent since 2006. Nigeria is the fifth biggest supplied of oil to the USA, notes Bloomberg.
