Zimbabwe prosecutors agreed on Saturday to postpone from today, Monday the terrorism trial of Roy Bennett, after his lawyers argued that they had been given too little time to prepare the case, notes Afrik-News.

Roy Bennett, an ally of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, has been charged with illegal possession of arms for purposes of committing terrorism and banditry.

He denies the charges, which carry a death penalty.

Bennet was meant to stand trial on Wednesday and immediately detained in prison. He was released on bail last Friday.

Prosecutors want the trial to take place on October 27th, but defense lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa said her team will ask for more time.
