French rights lawyer, Jacques Verges and several of his colleagues have agreed to help discover the truth about last month’s massacre in Conakry. Last week, the victims of the deadly repression by the military junta sued the regime for crimes against humanity committed during a political rally, writes AllAfrica. The massacre left at least 150 people dead and over 1200 injured. An undisclosed number of women and girls were also raped. Jean Louis Camara, a Guinean lawyer who speaks for the victims of the repression was quoted as saying “we are going to appeal to the African Heads of State to set up an African jurisdiction that is specifically tailored for rights violations committed against Africans.”
