Mozambique polls opened Wednesday for the country’s fourth national elections since the introduction of multi-party democracy in 1994. The presidential, parliamentary and provincial elections are widely expected to be won by ruling party Frelimo and incumbent President Armando Guebuza, reports News24. Polls opened at 6 am and President Guebuza was among the first voters to cast his ballot at a Maputo school. “I am confident that my party and my candidate will win,” The Associated Press quoted him as saying. Nineteen parties are taking part in Wednesday’s presidential, parlimentary and provincial assemblies elections. Results are expected November 1.
