Roy Bennet trial, which prompted Prime Minister Tsvangirai’s MDC to boycott the unity government, has begun in Harare, reports AFP. Roy Bennett was to become the country’s deputy agriculture minister but was arrested in February on terror charges. Zimbabwe’s attorney general said the case was “a very serious matter which must be treated with the seriousness it demands,” according to The Zimbabwean. PM Tsvangirai said the charges were fabricated in order to keep Bennet, a senior member of Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) out of Zimbabwe’s unity government.
