Forty-seven people have been killed in ethnic clashes in south Sudan’s Lakes state region, reports France24. Armed men from the Mundari ethnic group launched an attack on two villages that belong to the Dinka Aliab tribe, part of the south’s largest ethnic group. “These people are neighbors who have a tradition of cattle raiding,” said Major General Kuol Deim Kuol, spokesman for southern Sudan People Liberation Army (SPLA), “we believe this was a continuation of those cattle raids, but using the modern automatic weapons for the killing,” he added.
