Pan Africa: Vaccine price drops to help millions of children

According to VOA, millions of children in developing countries may be able to receive a major combination vaccine due to a drop in price. The GAVI Alliance, a public/private health partnership, made the annoucement on Wednesday in Hanoi regarding the pentavalent vaccine. It helps protects against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, as well as against Hib, a bacteria that cause meningtis and pneumonia. In the last few years, the price for a single vaccine dose has dropped from $3.65 to $2.94.
