Janet Jackson equals Madonna with top ten albums on US charts

March 15th, Janet Jackson’s 10th studio album “Discipline” hit the top of U.S. charts. The 41 year old singer actress now equals Madonna in the number of albums topping the charts.

Although it may be hard to make a name for oneself when your older brother is “King of Pop” Michael Jackson, Janet has managed it through the years and she herself has become a superstar in her own right.

Miss Janet Jackson’s career began some twenty five years ago. She has since worked unceasingly recording numerous albums while adapting her style to the ever changing music industry over the years. Her internationally acclaimed album “Discipline” her tenth album so far, was released February ending.

Not limiting herself to only a career in the music industry, Janet Jackson has proved herself as a seasoned and gifted actress as well.

Janet, born in month of May 1966, started acting as early as 1976 when she appeared in the television show “The Jacskons,” in which she starred as herself alongside her other seven siblings.

In recognition of her talent in acting, she received an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in “Why Did I Get Married?”.

“Why did I get married” is comedy-drama adaptation written, produced, directed, and starring Tyler Perry, which was inspired by the play of the same name. It was released on October 12th 2007 and was a commercial success, opening at number one in the box office.

Discipline is Janet’s sixth number one album as many as pop singer Madonna and just two short from the record of eight number one albums for a female singer held by Barbra Streisand. In 2005 Telegraph UK reported her as the most sought-after term on the internet search engine Google News – ahead of Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami.
