Leona Lewis’ debut album “Spirit” was released on November 9th 2007.
She was signed in the US by J Records boss Clive Davis who also signed Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and Justin Timberlake when they began their successful careers (BBC News).
Leona is the winner of the English reality TV show X Factor. The aim of the TV show is to discover and promote new singers.
Some claim that the fact that she comes from a reality TV show labels her as “manufactured pop” according to Telegraph.co.uk. However her recent success overseas can only silence declarations of the sort.
