After weeks of uncertainties the Ben Arfa drama has come to an end. The young french international of Tunisian descent has been transferred to Olympique Marseille (OM) for 15 million euros under a four year contract. Lilian Thuram, on the other hand, is about to close a deal on his transfer to Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
Pape Diouf, yesterday, officially announced Lyon’s agreement to permanently transfer Hatem Ben Arfa to OM. The exact amount of the transfer was concealed but it is said to be about 15 million euros. “the negotiations were not easy due to the fact that he is a young international, one of those players who outshone their coequals in the championship. This is why we are happy to have come to this agreement with Lyon” said Diouf, adding “we count a lot on this young talent and he also counts on OM to jump-start his career”.
Ben Arfa should feel at home in the heated velodrome atmosphere. But it is highly likely that he crosses paths with Samir Nasri who is still being eyed by Arsenal. After its last two recruitments of Amine Erbati and Vitorino Hilton, OM has now taken the lead on the French market. Next on Pape Diouf’s agenda is Bakary Koné, the Ivorian striker, who Nice wants for 12 million euros, a sum OM wants lowered.
Thuram closer to Paris
PSG might be about to sign its first big contract of the season. According to the french sports daily, l’Equipe the international french defender is on the verge of concluding a one year contract with an option for a second supplementary year with the parisian club. Lilian Thuram, now free after his final season with FC Barcelona (Barca), has always been frank about his wish to play in the French capital. Should he sign, he could play side by side with Zoumana Camara, the Ivorian, in central defense.
Another player whose name appears on the PSG wish list is Claude Makelele, currently with Chelsea, however, the his high salary is remains an issue. Finally, PSG striker, Amara Diané, whose seanson was marked with great feats, might sign with Newcastle in England.
