The Congolese government and the UNDP are planning to launch a three-year project to strengthen the institutional poverty reduction framework in the country, a source close to the UN agency said here Monday. The project is the outcome of a partnership agreement signed 29 November 2007 between the Congolese government and the UN agency.
It will be supervised by the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Budget, in close collaboration with the UNDP that will be tasked to recruit consultants.
According to statistics, about 70 per cent of the Congolese population lives below the poverty line.
