Indonesian ship fishing illegally in Mauritius sea

Mauritius National Coast Guard (NCG) intercepted an Indonesian ship “FV Putra Jaya No 33” during the week fishing illegally in the Mauritian territorial waters. A police source told PANA here Monday the ship was operating illegally in the Economic Exclusive Zone (ZEE) of Mauritius, about 132 kilometres away. The ship with 12 crew members was carrying about 30 tons of fish. The captain of the ship, Tsai Chi Yuan, has since been charged with “illegal fishing” by a Port-Louis court and faced between US$ 33,500 and US$ 170,000 fine.
