Saudi Arabia has donated to Burkina Faso, vaccines to help it control meningitis which has already killed more than 200 people in the west and southwest of the country. The donation comprised 20,000 meningoccal vaccines and 200,000 units of meningitis treatment, at a total cost of US$ 500,000. The regions most affected by the epidemic are Banfora and Gaoua, which share borders with Côte d’Ivoire. The Ivorian and Burkinabe health authorities met February in Bouna, Côte d’Ivoire to take joint measures against the epidemic. Panapress.
