Port Louis: 300 workers laid off

Manupan Ltée, a textile and clothing plant in Mauritius, laid off about 300 workers Monday after it was put in judicial administration for financial distress. After a meeting with the Labour minister, Vasant Bunwaree, the administrator Raj Gangoosirdar said all the steps taken to save the plant were unsuccessful. “We would launch a second international competitive bidding to find a rescuer,” said Gangoosirdar.
