Canada has made FCFA18 billion (8 million Canadian dollars) available to Mali for the reform of the public service as part of the Institutional Development Programme (PDI), an official source said Monday. The aid will help consolidate the actions undertaken by the country’s technical and financial partners to support the Malian government’s efforts to implementing the Programme for 2006-2008. Managing and developing human resources, transparency in signing of contracts and gender equity are among others the goals of the programme. The memorandum of understanding was signed in Bamako by Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Moctar Ouane, and Canadian Ambassador to Mali, Mrs. Isabelle Roy. Panapress.
