Indian jailed in Mauritius

A 43-year-old Indian national, Asraf Seyyad, was Tuesday sentenced to 30 years in jail for drug trafficking by a Mauritian court, a legal source told Panapress . Seyyad was arrested at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in the south of the island in August 2006 with 500 grammes of heroine In addition to the jail sentence, the Indian is also to pay a fine of about US$7,000.
