The head coach of the Malian national football team, the Eagles, French national Jean François Jodar was sacked Monday by the Malian Football Association (FEMAFOOT) which notified him of the termination of his contract by mail, a sports source told Panapress Tuesday. FEMAFOOT blamed the French technician of insubordination to the FEMAFOOT executive committee, the poor preparation of the Malians for the CAN 2008 while training in the United Arab Emirates and his misunderstanding with some players in the national side, saying the problems were responsible for Mali’s early exit from the tournament in Ghana. The French coach whose contract was to run until 30 June is planning to hire a lawyer to defend his interests. In the meantime, he sent a list of players Monday to FEMAFOOT naming his squad for an international friendly between the Eagles and France. Jodar was employed only one and a half years ago.
