Christians throughout the world are Sunday celebrating Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the most important Christian festival. Christians are celebrating the day with joy and many communities are re-enacting the resurrection by going to cemeteries, just as some women did some 2,000 years ago, when they visited the grave of Jesus and found that the stone covering the tomb had been moved and tomb empty. According to the Easter events, on Good Friday, Jesus Christ was crucified and His body was taken down from the cross and buried in a cave. The tomb was guarded and an enormous stone was put over the entrance, so that no one could steal the body. However, God resurrected Jesus and he thereafter ascended to heaven. Christians believe the resurrection of Jesus Christ signifies his victory over death and the day is being celebrated with singing, merrymaking and jubilation. Panapress.
