At least four suspected militants were shot dead during a gun duel with government troops in Nigeria’s oil producing Niger Delta region Monday, according to the joint (military) task force deployed to the area. The gun battle erupted at Isaka community in Rivers state, after the militants confronted the soldiers, who had challenged them over the hijacking of a tugboat and a barge a few days ago. The superior fire-power of the soldiers sank the two speed boats in which the militants were riding, with four members of the gangs dying from the duel and another being arrested after he was injured.
