A 35-year-old Nigerian man who killed his pregnant wife by smashing her head with a huge stone has asked the government to kill him for his offence. The man, identified as Sunday Abbah, was paraded by the police in Nigeria’s South-west city of Abeokuta on Thursday. Abbah told journalists he smashed the head of his wife, Comfort, who was six months pregnant, with a 20-kg stone while she was sleeping, and that he did not know why he did it. ”I can only ask that the government should kill me for this offence because I don’t know what came over me,” said a sober-looking Abbah.
