The Emir of Qatar, Cheikh Hamed Ben Khalifa Al, was due in Nouakchott Wednesday (2 April) for a two-day visit at the invitation of President Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi of Mauritania. The two countries enjoy “excellent” diplomatic and bilateral relations and have signed three agreements on cooperation, economy and finance. Mauritania’s former president Maaouya Ould Sid’Ahmed Taya took refuge in Qatar following the coup that toppled his administration 3 August 2005. Panapress.
