The incoming chairperson of the African Union (AU) Co mmission, Jean Ping, Tuesday begins a working visit to Belgium, a communiqu� of t he European Union (EU) here announced. During his stay, he will be received by the EU High representative for external policy and common security (PESC), Javier Solana, and will hold talks with the p r esident of the EU Commission, Jose manuel Barroso, on the latest political situa t ion in Africa, particularly in Chad, Darfur, Kenya and Zimbabwe. A former Gabonese minister of foreign affairs, Mr. Ping was elected AU Commissio n chairman in January in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during the summit of heads of st a te and government of the Panafrican organisation.
