This weekend both the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held meetings (BBC News) on how to cope with the food price crisis that has hit the world over the past few weeks. Egypt among other countries protested in a strike action that was called last week among several riots taking place around the country. This looming food crisis can be partially explained by the increase of biofuel cultures (Guardian) in the US that replace edible crops causing prices to rise.
