Monday evening the directors of Northwest Airlines Corp and Delta Air Line Inc are believed to have agreed to a merger that would create the worlds biggest Airline (CNN). The value of the deal is estimated at 3 billion US dollars. The carrier will keep the Delta name and flag, and employ 75,000 people around the world for its almost 800 plane fleet and will have a 35 billion dollar annual revenue according to The Financial Times. The agreement took several months to make and was finally decided to face the increase of fuel prices. It is believed that this merger will encourage other main carriers to do the same which would result in cost reduction for travelers from all over the world.
