After South Africa and Namibia, Botswana, which is the number one producer of diamonds worldwide, should create sixteen local polishing and cutting companies in 2008. This process will mean higher profits for the producing countries, the stones normally being shipped away to Asia for further treatment. According to the economic newspaper Les Afriques India is willing to cooperate with Africa to “help better their art in the diamond industry”.
