Niger’s government delegation, led by Communication Minister Mohammed Ben Omar is expected Wednesday in Paris for an information mission on Niger’s economic situation and on the situation of the rebellion in the country’s northern part, Niger’s diplomatic sources said Tuesday. Niger’s government delegation, which also comprises opposition MP Sanoussi Tambari Jackou, will be received at the French National Assembly. According their programme, Niger’s delegation will Thursday hold a news conference on “Niger’s socio-economic potentialities and development prospects” and will answer “questions on current affairs” including the Moussa Kaka case, RFI and RSF correspondent in Niger. Kaka was sued for his presumed links with the rebels of the Movement of Nigeriens for Justice (MNJ). The Director of the Private Press Group, Sarranounia, has been in jail for more than six months now at Niamey’s civilian prison. “Minister Ben Omar, who is also spokesman of the government, will answer questions relative to the case, Niger having nothing to hide,” a diplomat from Niger, who asked not to be named, told panapress.
