The first leg of the Chelsea – Liverpool Champions League semi final took place yesterday at Anfield in Liverpool. The locals scored a goal through Dirk Kuyt in the first half and played a good defensive match. However, four minutes into injury time of the second half, Chelsea goalkeeper blocked a shot from Fernando Torres and the counter attack resulted in an own goal by John Arne Riise on the other side of the pitch. The match finished in a 1-1 draw that gives Chelsea the away goal they needed to be sure of their chances to move on in the competition next Wednesday in the second leg.
