According to AP, U.N. undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs declared that the death toll in Darfur region was underestimated by as much as 50%. A month ago U.N. claimed that 200,000 people had so far died in the Darfur conflict, however, new figures estimate that 300,000 have died over the past two years.The Darfur conflict began five years ago, when ethnic African tribesmen took up arms, complaining of decades of neglect and discrimination by the Sudanese government (CNN).
