The Israeli government refused to meet the conditions of the six month truce proposed by Hamas. Hamas offered to halt cross-border rocket attacks if Israel opened crossing points into the Gaza strip and ended military incursions according to Al Jazeera. Israel refused this arrangement claiming that Hamas only wanted this truce to strengthen their diminished forces and strike back again after the truce.
