At least 11 people were killed and 32 wounded during last nights clashes between Shiite militia and US soldiers in Baghdad. In March the prime minister of Iraq, Nuri al-Maliki, ordered a large military operation against militiamen in Basra that provoked violent reactions all over the country. Since then at least 383 people have been killed in Sadr City, according to an AFP tally based on casualty figures provided by Iraqi and US officials. (France 24)
