The top US envoy to Africa, Jendayi Frazer, declared that Morgan Tsvangirai, the opposition leader, had won the elections in Zimbabwe and that Robert Mugabe, the current president, should step down immediately according to CNN. Many members of the international community who have demanded that measures be taken in the post electoral crisis Zimbabwe is going through include British PM Gordon Brown, Jacob Zuma leader of the ruling South African party and Human Rights Watch. However this is the first time a US official has taken such a clear position on the subject.
