According to Al Jazeera, the interior ministry in Afghanistan has revealed that 18 Afghans, including 7 civilians, have been killed in a suicide blast in the East of the country. The target of the bombing was an anti drug team whose mission was to fight the increasing traffic of opium. This shows that drug trafficking is taking importance in Afghanistan where 93% of the world’s opium was produced last year. UN drug experts estimate that the drug market injects over 3 billion dollars a year into the country’s economy.
