According to CNN the UN refused the MDC demand to send an envoy to Zimbabwe, with this refusal from the Security Council the responsibility to name such an envoy lies with the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon. The demand for an envoy came from Tendai Biti the Secretary General of the MDC opposition party in Zimbabwe. The country is going through a political crisis after last March’s presidential elections results have not been released. The MDC’s victory in the parliamentary elections held at the time was confirmed by a recount this week.
