President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe called for opposition to accept the run-off he proposed according to Al Jazeera. During a meeting this Thursday Mugabe discussed the poll standoff with Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, Senegal’s foreign minister. The presidential election results have yet to be released over a month after the election took place. Zimbabwean election officials allegedly said yesterday that Morgan Tsvangirai, the opposition leader, had won by 47.8% against 43.2% for Mugabe. This result would lead to a run-off between both candidates. However Tsvangirai’s party claim that their candidate won with 50.3% which would result in victory without a run-off.
