Autonomy vote in Bolivia rejected by Morales

An unofficial autonomy referendum was held in the resource rich region of Santa Cruz in Bolivia. With close to one fifth of the votes recounted more than 80% of voters are said to want the region to take control of its resources according to El Diario. There were widely spread celebrations all over the state, however, Evo Morales the Bolivian President rejected the vote claiming that it was illegal. Violence between pro and anti autonomy supporters resulted in 20 people wounded according to officials (BBC News).
