Chotisak Oonsong, a Thai student, has been charged of insulting the monarchy by not standing up during the national anthem in a theater according to Al Jazeera. If convicted he could face up to 15 years in prison although he assures that his gesture was not intended to insult King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The student claims to have remained seated to protest against the strict laws imposed by the monarchy that according to him restrict his constitutional rights and freedom.
