The representative of the Dalai Lama sent to Beijing to discuss the Tibet issue with the Chinese government claimed that the talks were a good first step according to Al Jazeera. Both parties announced that there would be a second round of talks although no date has been given yet. These talks are the first since pro independence riots left several dead in Tibet two months ago. The Chinese government was under pressure by the international community to open dialog with the Dalai Lama.
