According to BBC News, Dmitry Medvedev has been sworn in as the third President of Russia, after having won the elections held in March by a large margin. One of the first decisions Medvedev will take will be to name Vladimir Putin, the former president, as Prime Minister. Mr. Putin was not allowed to run for a third consecutive mandate as President so he gave his support to Medvedev in exchange of the promise of being Prime Minister. Many feel that the new president will be a puppet and that the real power will remain in hands of the same man.
