The deaths toll of the typhoon that hit Myanmaer last weekend has gone up to 22,000 with another 41,000 unaccounted for according to France 24. More than 10,000 of these deaths occurred in the same town, Bogalay situated in the Irrawady delta where the typhoon was strongest. The area was hit by 200-km/h winds and water levels rose by up to three meters. The military dictatorship that runs the country, who usually refuses all international aid including after the 2004 tsunami, allowed humanitarian workers to enter the country for the first time in years.
