Labor strike paralyses Lebanese capital

Beirut is paralyzed by the anti-government labor strike led by the Hezbollah opposition according to Al Jazeera. The strike initially called to demand pay increases has grown as the population struggles with the soaring food prices. Lebanon has been without a president since November. The opposition has boycotted 17 parliamentary sessions to formally select a new president, citing problems with power sharing in the cabinet(Al Jazeera).
